About

Full time, Mel McMahon is the Corporate Relations Coordinator for The Salvation Army Indiana Division, but part-time, still does voice-over work, hosts charity events, appears in short films, podcasts, co-hosts a radio show, and contributes to several non-profits.

In 2008, she started with The Salvation Army as a volunteer, became spokesperson for their Homelessness Bites campaign in 2009, and became full time in January of this year.

Her background is in radio and television—both on-air and behind the scenes. When not promoting The Salvation Army, Mel uses her gift of gab to open up conversations about taboo subjects—specifically infant loss. Her daughter Ella would have turned three years old this past February.

Mel still lives in the same house her parents moved in to when she was six months old. Minus her stint in Ferdinand, Indiana at an all girls boarding school and her time in Bloomington, IN completing her undergrad at IU, Mel has been born and raised in Indianapolis, specifically Irvington on Indy’s east side. She started taking dance lessons when she was four years old, and still takes tap, jazz, and ballet classes at the same studio she started at almost 24 years ago. She loves outdoor concerts, eating at local restaurants, and attending charity events. Education has always been encouraged in Mel’s family, and she is proud to have accepted her Master’s diploma from Keller Graduate School.

Her burning desire is to be the voice of a cartoon, but in the mean time, she enjoys helping businesses find ways to give back to their community.
